To be honest, basketball has never been the noisiest sport in India. However, it grabbed center stage in Mumbai for two days. This wasn't about fandom or nostalgia. With NBA legends like Gary Payton and Derek Fisher, plus the Sacramento Kings Dunk Team showing up, the whole thing carried real weight. Artists also helped the event come to life, adding their voices and energy to a larger celebration of identity, creativity, and movement.

It was a full-court flex on the first day

Rannvijay Singha, Shah Rule, Yung Raja, Anand Ahuja, Aaquib Wani, Prabh Deep. They each brought their own rhythm to the floor as Disha Patani pulled up to the Celebrity 3v3. The game moved with its own beat: unscripted, unpolished, electric. It was live-streamed, unadulterated energy.

And then came the mic.

Stick No Bills and Hanumankind stepped in with sharp bars and magnetic presence. Their set carried the same raw edge as the game. No filter, no pretense, nothing held back. It was a reminder that Indian culture creates its own rules rather than simply imitating others.

Day two? A unique kind of chaos

There was an explosive Dunk Contest. The rafters trembled. Cameras were unable to keep up. People stood on seats. The audience was actively participating, versus simply observing. And to shut it down, Baby J, Tye Turner and Benga. It was pure chaos, noise, perspiration, and spirit.

The lineup was strong, no doubt. But what stood out wasn’t just who was there, but how it all came together. The layout, the designs, the portrayal of culture, every element was dialed in with intent. In addition we were constructing a court but we were also creating a new basketball language in India. One that possesses a sense of style. Music. Motion. One that doesn't seek approval.
