Project Description
bedtime sonic fables is a sonic experience inspired by the sleep cycle, merging the practices of Dhrupad (Indian classical vocals) along with Electronic Sounds, Cymatics Visuals and live instruments
Expected Impact
Our project brings together 3 elements of music, sound and visuals which hasn't been explored as much in the Indian Experimental scene to create intimate listening spaces for audiences to truly engage with the art being shared. Dhrupad's transcendental qualities, combined with electronic soundscapes infused with elements of nature, provides a rich sonic bed. Adding live cymatics visuals, we make sound visible, enriching the experience and encouraging mindful, conscious listening. This form of experimental fusion remains relatively unexplored within India’s contemporary music landscape and we're passionate about contributing to its growth. We deeply believe in the power of live, intimate music experiences—spaces where listening is intentional, and a genuine connection forms between the music, the musicians, and the audience. By deepening this form of sonic exploration, we aim to actively contribute to the evolving landscape of experimental and ambient music in India.
Applicant Background
Harsh and Sahitya's (together pause.dxa) first project together was inspired by the 5 elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space and have been offering sound immersions combining Dhrupad, Electronic Soundscapes based on this sonic composition. We have experimented in different formats and settings and observed how people respond to sound when one is supported into a purposeful listening journey. Taking this work forward we are now creating a composition based on the sleep cycle and also incorporating live visuals which is a next step in our exploration. Over the 2 years we have consciously with focus studied how people listen, respond and feel towards sound and these learnings support our work ahead.
