The Unscripted Project

Project Description

The Unscripted Project is a research and graphic exploration into the endangered and extinct scripts of India, shared via an exhibition and a range of designed objects.

Expected Impact

Our goal is to spotlight the sophistication and depth in regional Indian graphic design which is often overlooked and dismissed as primitive. Due to the vast nature of our country, regional design tends to stay insular, with little to no reach. We want to bring the regional scripts and its associated design systems to the forefront. This will improve the understanding and perception of Indian design in India but also on a global platform, finally moving away from a stereotypical image of Indian design. Through this exhibition we hope to change the perception of rural and regional design and spark an interest in exploring it further.
