Project Description

A dancer and painter co-create live on fabric, blending motion and paint. The canvas, marked by their performance, is later transformed into a unique, wearable artwork capturing the moment.

Expected Impact

This project bridges performance, visual art, and fashion, offering a fresh interdisciplinary approach that reflects India’s evolving contemporary art scene. Rooted in collaboration and process, it celebrates the impermanence of live performance while preserving its essence through wearable art. By transforming the outcome into fashion, it makes high art more accessible, inviting new audiences into the world of performance and visual storytelling. The project contributes to India’s cultural landscape by encouraging experimentation, challenging traditional boundaries between art forms, and supporting cross-disciplinary collaborations. It also uplifts the role of process-based art and ephemeral practices, which are often underrepresented in mainstream cultural platforms. Globally, it resonates with movements that value sustainability, individuality, and performative expression. It offers a model where art is not only seen but worn—experienced physically and emotionally. The change we hope to inspire is a shift in how art is perceived: not as a static object, but as a living, evolving experience. We aim to encourage artists to collaborate across mediums, and audiences to engage with art in more intimate, embodied ways. Ultimately, this work aspires to blur boundaries and expand the language of contemporary Indian art.

Applicant Background

With over 13 years of experience in dance, I’ve had the opportunity to represent India both nationally and internationally at prestigious events, including performances for platforms like Red Bull. My background extends beyond performance—I’ve worked in advertising, films, and modeling, which has given me a strong understanding of production dynamics, on-camera presence, and creative direction. In addition to my professional work, I’ve consistently sought out collaborations across various art forms, often engaging with underground and alternative cultural movements in India. These experiences have shaped my artistic voice and deepened my appreciation for interdisciplinary creation. I also run a brand called POWERDRIP, where we produce one-of-a-kind pieces and collections for artists, including designing custom merchandise and brand identities. Most recently, I co-founded a high fashion label called HAQ in collaboration with a designer, further expanding my experience in fashion, design, and artistic storytelling. Having collaborated with numerous artists, designers, and production houses over the years, I’ve developed a deep commitment to creative expression and a solid foundation in project execution. I believe my passion, network, and hands-on experience make me well-prepared to bring this project to life—if given the opportunity.
