An immersive Himalayan music residency where artists co-create with nature, empower local youth, and celebrate traditional sounds—blending field recordings, workshops, and cultural exchange.
Our project aims to decentralize and decolonize artistic creation in India by shifting the spotlight from urban centers to the culturally rich but often overlooked Himalayan regions. By rooting artistic practice in local ecology and community, we create space for new forms of expression that are both grounded and globally relevant. We hope to inspire a shift toward slower, more intentional modes of creation that value collaboration over competition, and tradition alongside innovation. The project nurtures a living cultural archive, empowers local voices, and invites global audiences to engage with India’s diverse, evolving creative landscape—on the land where it lives and breathes.
Over the past few years, our team has designed and led experiential treks in the Indian Himalayas that blend ecology, music, and cultural immersion. We've hosted site-specific performances using natural materials, conducted soundwalks, and facilitated on-trail workshops covering plant biosonification, local crafts, meditation, and survival skills. Our collaborators include independent musicians, ecologists, and educators. We’ve also organised intimate music gatherings in remote villages, fostering grassroots cultural exchange. This hands-on, community-first approach—combined with our backgrounds in design, music, and storytelling—equips us to thoughtfully scale this vision into a full-fledged residency.
