Project Description

An album and collaborative multimedia project ‘Crimson’, featuring 2 high-concept music videos, album cover art, and 11 multimedia art pieces created by crowdsourced graphic designers

Expected Impact

There are few projects to emerge from the Indian Independent music scene with themes and music similar to that on ‘Crimson’, fewer still from the electronic music scene. Success for this project could mean a huge step forward for art, in that we are pushing originality and creativity within the scene. This initiative is so special for providing opportunities to independent artists (usually struggling to find funds for their projects), nurturing their ideas, and encouraging collaboration with other like-minded creatives within the community. Another goal is to inspire women such as myself to start or expand on their own creative journeys. Budding artists can feel a boost of confidence when they watch other women experimenting with their creative expression. Specifically within the Indian independent electronic scene, which is still in nascent stages, this would be a massive step towards creating a birthing ground for newer artists. It may inspire others to break out of their shell and work with creatives from other fields. Women in art often feel left out, or too scared to take initiative. This is why crowdsourcing various artists - including talented women of all age groups - feels so appealing; there is more potential for nurturance and mentorship within the team.

Applicant Background

In 2023, I released my 7 track album and multimedia project called 'The Fall'. I have always found storytelling with high-concept visuals and music to be a winning combination, and enjoyed collaborating with artists and graphic designers to create a unique universe around my music! That year I had the opportunity of collaborating with the global tech powerhouse "Media Monks" to use Unreal Engine and its famous technique 'Virtual Production'. We created a visually stunning music video for "I Grew Up" - the first single on the same album. I also worked with "The Comic Book Store" - India's first independent comic book shop, to publish my very own comic - "The Fall". It explores the themes of the album through various chapters, and introduces fans to unique and quirky characters from the 'Komoverse'. These same characters were brought to life via on online album release campaign as 3D avatars, and were present in our visuals at Komorebi live sets during 'The Fall - India Tour 2023'. I worked with various fashion designers to recreate their character looks in real life, to provide an immersive experience to my audience.
